About usThe Longton Nursery Allotments Association is a self-managed allotment site in Sydenham, run by a management committee of volunteers who are elected every year at the AGM. They act as agents of Lewisham Council to ensure that the conditions of tenancy are being met by all members and that the site is kept in good order.
Fruit trees - what you can and can't plantOnly fruit trees on M27 (dwarf) rootstock can be planted on allotments in the borough of Lewisham, a decision taken at an AGM of the Lewisham Self-Managed Allotments Association. Planting fruit trees with this rootstock means that they will only reach approx 6ft in height. This reinforces point 1.e of the Tenancy Agreement, which you can find on this page.
A proper pruning regime should be planned and implemented for any fruit tree planted on your plot and it's advisable to discuss this with a member of the Committee before you proceed. For more information on rootstocks visit The National Collection at Brogdale website. |
Tenancy AgreementAll members should read and understand the terms under which they accept an allotment plot, as well as the other information on this page, as it forms the basis of how the site is run for the mutual benefit of all LNAA members and ensures that the site is a pleasant and enjoyable place for everyone to garden in, now and in the future.
